Making Tracks

Deltaville

Weather and mechanical issues made for restless sleep, but we managed to get a few winks. Bright sunshine shone through our ports to announce the start of a new day. We woke to a slippery accumulation of ice covering our cockpit and the finger pier. We would give the sunshine a few hours to melt that ice before we went to the bathhouse for showers. My cactus and I enjoyed soaking up the rays, if only through the window. Once on land we spotted a few instances of storm damage -- a damaged bimini, a broken bow line, and this sport fisher which was deposited on top of a piling by wind and a falling tide.

In the "What Else?" category, Barry was unable to connect to the home cameras and cloud backup so we decided to make a very quick tech support call at the house. The main roads were clear, but the trees were still covered with snow. Our back yard was picturesque with its unblemished snowfall. Barry's diagnosis of a faulty UPS was correct. We changed it out, got everything back online, grabbed a few more warm clothes, and were soon making tracks out of our driveway and back to Deltaville.

While on the road, we formalized a plan of attack for the plumbing issues. We were going to patch her up and get moving south. Between here and the Bahamas we will stop for a quick haul and get our valve replaced. Once back to the marina, it was time to prepare for departure. While Barry started on the plumbing, I shoveled the snow off of the bow and side decks hoping for a safer walking surface tomorrow morning. We worked together to finish up the connections and get the floorboards back in place. Whew.

Dinner followed then we made the final trash run. We're hoping an early night will have us well-rested for a 7:00 am departure. Finally we'll be making tracks south.
