Canines On The Catwalk

George Town

Our current spot in Elizabeth Harbour, just off Honeymoon Beach, has a nice little gap in trees that frames the sun's rise over Stocking Island. We had a visitor around Crossroads this morning as I was reading on the bow. A brave turtle dodged all the dinghies and water taxis while swimming around the boat. Barry finalized his generator parts order and has arranged for delivery to Staniel Cay. With that load off his mind, he wanted to make a run into George Town right after lunch. We dropped off a stinky bag of trash, picked up some bread and apples at the re-stocked market, and did a little shopping at the Straw Market before zipping back to Crossroads to drop off our purchases. Barry did not even get out of the dinghy, because our next stop was Chat N Chill for the afternoon festivities which began at 4:00. The shore was already packed tight with dinghies (and a Sea-Doo) when we arrived at 3:30.

I went and said hello to the rays and fish hanging out in front of the conch salad hut. Five huge rays were waiting on the discarded conch scraps. We then grabbed a seat and watched the kids fearlessly climbing high in the tree and swinging down on the attached ropes. The crowds thickened and the cat joined in with a front row view of the costume show.

There was a contest for dressing up as your boat's name and a general costume group that featured many pirates and a few butterflies. I'm pretty sure the cat was most anxious to see several dogs in humiliating costumes like an octopus and a pineapple. The canine wardrobe should be chosen with utmost care and respect. We returned to Crossroads as the sun was setting. A great bonus of having these light and variable winds is that Barry gets to fire up our grill. Kudos to the chef for this evening's lobster entree. Tomorrow we should get a delivery date on our generator parts. We will then be able to plan our second departure from George Town. We still have two months left to explore as much as we can.
