Eyes On The Prize

Beaufort

Throughout this delay, we've tried hard to remain positive. We know we'll have a much better boat when all the work is done. We've talked of our chicken salad and lemonade diet made from the chicken $hi! and lemons that have come our way. We've gone exploring, anxious to see some new sites in this area of North Carolina. We've completed other boat projects that were on "The List." Today, however, it was difficult to find any motivation at all. It was another cold and breezy day. On a positive note, we straightened out the AIS antenna that was bent during the storm. The revarnished name boards were put back in place on the pilothouse roof and the lights worked fine. We then went to put our newly delivered canvas covers on them, only to find they did not fit. We were defeated. Our delicate little mood balloon deflated much like the tubes on our dinghy have in these cold temperatures. One step forward, two steps back. It was too cold to wax. It was too windy to install our solar panels. I sought solace in front of the television watching three basketball games with varying levels of interest and disappointment. The sunset was monochrome and bland. We've placed a lot of hope in the upcoming days and our fingers are crossed that these last pieces will come together. Our eyes are still on the awaiting prize of warm weather, blue water, and white sand beaches.
