Rudder Cut Cay to Black Point | 3 Hours | 18 Miles
The second act of this morning's sunrise, was much more dramatic than the first. Once the sun reached the gap in the clouds, magic occurred. Rays shot vertically as the once gray clouds transitioned to hues of orange and purple. We were in no hurry to depart so I went to the downstairs hallway and got my exercises done. As high tide approached, we pulled anchor and headed north through the Exuma Bank. The water is always skinny (shallow) through these parts and the sand bars are never covered by more than a foot of water. With the sunny sky, it was easy to avoid the shallow/lighter areas and stay in the deeper/darker water. The 205-foot Lucky Lady was anchored along our path of travel. We watched as the crew incredibly removed two tenders (a 38-foot and a 27-foot) from the garage.
We also cruised past the resort on Musha Cay and the Islands of Copperfield Bay. The beautiful landscaping was no illusion -- pink bougainvillea and perfect rows of palm trees lined the peaceful cove. Once in Black Point, I found my spot on the upperdeck and enjoyed the view while making another book disappear. This one was the sequel to the one I finished yesterday and another quick read. Not long after we arrived, I received a call from Kelly on Untethered. She and Richard had watched us anchor and asked if we'd like to meet for dinner. Absolutely! We gathered at Lorraine's Cafe and had a wonderful four-course meal on the deck. The wind picked up and the temperature fell into the chilly range, but we barely seemed to notice. We caught up on each others' ups and downs since we last saw them in Fort Pierce. We even got to chat with Lorraine when we had finished our meals. Our host, "Killer," took a few photos, including this fun selfie before we said good night and goodbye. The finest magic act of the day was our ability to carve out quality time with friends at the drop of a hat.
