Resetting For South Florida

Fort Pierce

We successfully completed the initial run of another boat system last night -- the air conditioner. It ran for a few hours and dropped the cabin temperature to a comfortable sleeping temperature. Mission accomplished. I slept like a rock and woke up recovered from little sleep the previous night offshore. The first task of the day was to rearrange my closet, bringing the summer clothes out front and putting the winter clothes in the back. Goodbye Cold Gear, see you next year. After that I did my stretching which enabled me to contort myself a little better down in the commissary. I brought a fresh round of provisions up to the galley in preparation for our second month underway and the cross to The Bahamas. Fiberglass Beach was calling my name and I spent a few hours outside reading in the sunshine. Check off another book. I also listened to the singer performing at the onsite restaurant and to the rumble of traffic over the bascule bridge. Every 20 minutes, a prerecorded message announced the scheduled opening of the bridge that spans the ICW. I had a nice view of the new North Causeway Bridge construction. The 85-foot tall high rise bridge is scheduled to open in late 2027. At 4:45 we began our walk to 12A Buoy for dinner. Bridge/road construction and detours made the journey a bit more adventurous than anticipated, but we saw some nice flowers along the way and arrived on time to meet our friend Richard for dinner. It was great to see him (Kelly, we sure missed you tonight) and compare stories of boat projects and destinations. We took an Uber back to the marina, not wanting to retrace our previous steps in the dark.
