A Chilly Night In Florida

Day 234  |  Palmetto

I dare say our list of projects is getting closer to completion. While I was out for my morning walk, a US Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteer came over and checked out Crossroads. We passed with no issues and got our 2019 inspection stickers. Barry applied one to our pilothouse window and one on our dinghy. The sticker is good insurance and has been known to shorten "routine" Coast Guard visits. Barry continued to work on our last major Palmetto Project -- the emergency engine cutoff switch. He needed more wire and headed out for his final (?) trip to the Bradenton West Marine. It has been a nice convenience to have the parts supply right around the corner. We know that luxury will end soon as we make our way south and then to the Bahamas.

I did a few loads of laundry and vacuumed the downstairs. Vacuuming the salon and pilothouse will have to wait until this wiring project is done. I lost myself in a great new book and knocked out the middle 350 pages, finding it impossible to put down. The last 50 will hopefully be finished tonight. We gathered for docktails with fellow Loopers -- past, present, and future. Each boat has a unique background and story and we always learn a little something from these gatherings.

The temperature has dropped sharply, the wind has picked up, and lows tonight and tomorrow will be in the 40s. I reluctantly pulled the jeans, Cold Gear, and sweatshirt out of storage. Oh, how quickly I have been spoiled by sun and upper 70s. The sun set with a bright pink hue over the Manatee River to close the day.
