With our weather window still looking good for a Friday departure, we headed back into No Name Harbor to make a final trip to Winn-Dixie. We restocked all of our standard perishable staples, but didn't splurge. When toting purchases 1.5 miles back to the boat, everything that goes in the cart is analyzed for weight and importance. Barry carried the dry goods and I had all the cold items in my backpack. Upon our return, the harbor was abuzz with everyone making final preparations. Folks were pushing carts full of purchases and Amazon boxes were being carried.
Back onboard, we unpacked and relaxed for a few hours before making a final trip in to take out the trash and get in a final walk. This time we took the path less traveled and met more iguanas than people. The leaves of the seagrape shone in colors ranging from vibrant green to crimson. The sun was low in the sky and casting long shadows when we finished our loop. It felt good to get in seven miles today. We put the dinghy back on the upper deck and Barry fired up the grill. As our chicken was cooking we enjoyed the sunset from the flybridge where it was still 80 degrees.
We will leave Key Biscayne pretty early on Valentine's Day and hope to get a jump on the huge number of boats that will be crossing. Ideally, we'll arrive in Bimini in time to get cleared by customs and then over to BTC to get our phone situation worked out. If we don't, it will be Monday before we can reestablish internet connectivity. If you don't see a post, don't freak out. We'll be back up as soon as we're back on the grid.
Have a safe and enjoyable crossing and enjoy the Bahamas!
