March has indeed arrived like a lion. The stiff breeze from yesterday built overnight. We decided to wait until noon to see if it calmed to a point where we could get the dinghy down. In the morning's downtime, Barry started a puzzle and I grabbed my book and went to read. First I tried Fiberglass Beach. While it was challenging to read even a page-turner in 25 knot gusts, I endured to the point when cloud cover rolled in to block the sun's warm rays. The day turned chilly and forced me inside. Still, I had a pretty good view. We resigned to the fact that there would be no exploration. Barry finished his 500-piece diversion and then we began trying to solve a bigger puzzle -- where to seek protection from the approaching blow.
Chartbooks, guidebooks, weather apps, and weather reports were all consulted as we tried to put all the pieces together to form a clear picture. For today, we are satisfied with the intricate if/then scenario flowchart we have crafted. We will continue working our way south tomorrow, ultimately seeking northern protection for several days at the end of the week. The wind finally abated a bit as the sun set behind us, giving us reason to believe that tomorrow's plans will still hold. Pete sent us the photo of Crossroads silhouetted against the orange sky.
