Governor's Harbour and ... All that Jazz

Day 326  |  Rock Sound to Governor's Harbour  |  3.8 Hours  |  25 Miles

We left Rock Sound this morning with increasing blue sky and a faint rainbow's arc on the horizon. Our hopes of a dry passage were soon dashed as heavy dark clouds, full of rain, moved in low to the water. We closed ourselves up in the pilothouse and comfortably made our way to Governor's Harbour. Shortly after our arrival, all the rain was gone and it turned into a nice, cool afternoon.

We got the dinghy down and headed to shore. On a quick walk through town, I showed Barry a few highlights. The bougainvillea here is stunning and huge plants seemed to be on every corner and in every yard as we walked up the hill to Buccaneer Club for an early dinner. We ate on the patio and admired the orchids, plantings, artwork, and the banner for Eleuthera ... All that Jazz. This annual festival to benefit the local library is going on through the weekend with events each day at venues around town.

We heard a portion of the Jazz Vespers concert at St. Patrick's Church as we walked back to Crossroads. We will catch one of the performances tomorrow night at the Fish Fry where festival artists and other musicians will be performing an open jam session. Colors of the sunset filled both the western and eastern sky as night fell. We have a lot of walking planned for tomorrow so we'll call it an early night.
