Impatiently Waiting

Day 297  |  Norman's Cay

The front arrived before we went to sleep. The increased wind stirred up a little chop in the water, making for a rock-a-bye evening. We slept pretty well. The much desired rain never came, however, so Crossroads will have to wait at least another day for a bath. The sun rose through a small bank of clouds with golden rays shooting skyward. The wind was consistently blowing around 20 knots for much of the day. After listening to our burgee flap loudly overhead all night, we decided to put the cover on it for the rest of the day to both keep it quiet and protect it from fraying. That simple task turned out to be pretty challenging in the wind. The waves in our anchorage were not big, but they were close together. Around noon we saw the highest winds with gusts to 30 knots. After that, it began to calm down a bit.

It was still a gorgeous day in the Exumas. We had all our ports and windows open and were quite comfortable with the breeze blowing through the cabin. Our Anchor Pro app showed that we were firmly stuck in one place. The day was spent on a few boat projects, a little cleaning, and doing a load of laundry while making water. The sunset was better than anticipated. We've spent the past few hours preparing for our departure while watching a movie on DVD.

Tomorrow morning we will head south to Black Point Settlement. There we will finally meet up with dear friends Glenda, Greg and Jaxon aboard Ti Amo. Upon arrival will have travelled just shy of 5,000 statute miles since they saw us off on our Great Loop journey on May 21 of last year. I have beverages chilling to celebrate this most anticipated reunion. At this point there is no more attempt at patiently waiting. We might actually have a good chance of pulling this off.
