Key Biscayne
We were in the dinghy at 9:00 and off to My Cat to pick up Lynda for a walk into town. It was another beautiful morning, and the water inside No Name Harbor was still. We had three stops on our agenda -- CVS, Curative, and Winn-Dixie. CVS was a quick in-and-out, no problem. We arrived at the Covid testing tent a bit early for our appointment, but they let us go through at the same time without waiting. In an odd change from previous Covid tests, we had to swab our own nose. Self inflicted punishment. Ten circles in the left nostril, ten circles in the right, and we were done. We have been very careful over the past few weeks, trying not to put ourselves at unnecessary risk. Our results would come via email in two hours or less.
Off we went to Winn-Dixie with a short list. We mainly picked up yogurts, fruits and vegetables. Knowing it will probably be a while before we get asparagus and broccoli, we stocked up. Barry and I finished up before Lynda and waited for her outside on the bench. Our masks stayed on while in the crowded store because we will need another Covid test once we arrive in Bimini. There could be nothing worse than a positive test once we traveled nine hours and checked in. Both of our phones buzzed at the same time and we knew what meant. Our results were in. Woohoo. We were both negative. I loaded up and prepared for the 1.15 mile walk back to our dinghy. Barry then surprised us by getting the Freebee Shuttle to transport us and our purchases. Thanks to Melissa on Flip Flop for the tip. We loaded our bags into the little boat and shuttled them back to the big boat. Don brought his dinghy in to pick up Lynda.
It took all of my Tetris and packing skills to get everything in our refrigerator, but I did it! After a quick lunch I headed out to Fiberglass Beach to enjoy the glorious afternoon. Low 80s, light breeze, bright sunshine were all perfect. The only down side was the nonstop wakes from passing vessels. We were rocking and rolling all afternoon. Too bad our stabilizers don't work at anchor.
We took a few hours to complete the Bahamas Health Visa and Click to Clear forms. With all the confirmation emails received, we were off to My Cat for a delicious farewell dinner. They will hang out in south Florida for a few more weeks then head a little north for an extended stay. We will see them again in May. Back to Crossroads, we pulled the dinghy up in the dark (a first for us) and prepared the boat for a midnight departure. Barry turned in early to get a few hours of sleep and left me to get the blog and final clean up done. I have even been able to watch some of the Olympics. Turns out the salon TV does get sports after all.
We will run overnight and be in Bimini by 9:00 tomorrow morning, before a front rolls through the area. It will indeed be a Super Sunday.
