Fort Pierce
If we've learned anything while cruising, it's that plans change -- frequently. When our heads hit the pillow last night, we were excited about the plan to get up, take the dinghy over to the town dock for lunch with friends, and then do some grocery shopping. When lunch plans got cancelled, we thought of several other reasons that it would be best just to stay onboard and enjoy a down day. We didn't really want to spend $50 for a high-calorie lunch of fried food for just the two of us, and, as we get closer to crossing over, we want to limit possible Covid exposure as much as possible. I got my workout in then settled in the pilothouse to listen to my church service, turn a few more pages in my book, and watch the boat parade. The day was cloudy and early on it was too chilly to sit outside without layering up.
Around 2:30 the crew from My Cat came over to say hello. They had gotten their dinghy down for the first time and were giving it a test drive. We worked on our final grocery list and started to get our paperwork in order for Bahamian Customs and Immigration. The clouds began to break up and I took my book up to the flybridge for a while.
The sunset turned out quite nice as golden yellows turned to orange and then red. We have tracked our UPS package that was supposed to be delivered and waiting for us here in Fort Pierce on Friday, but became snowbound in Boston. The box with our new stern light is in Jacksonville and will be delivered tomorrow. Once it arrives, we will go over to the Safe Harbor Marina to pick it up and top off our diesel tanks before heading offshore to Key Biscayne. One step closer. That's the plan ... as it now stands.
