A Happy Heart Day

George Town

Barry surprised me with a Valentine's Day card this morning to start the day off right. (The surprise being when did he buy it when we've been together almost 24 hours a day since New Year's Eve.) At 9:00 we were in the dinghy and heading into town. The ride was pleasant, the water was calm, and we were dry when we arrived at the Exuma Market dock. Dry that is, except for my eyes. There was a lot of joy streaming down my face as we met Glenda and Greg, and pups Jaxon and Cooper of Paradigm Shift on the dock. The humans shared warm waves and smiles, knowing we would greet each other properly once we tied up the dinghies and got on land. Those social rules did not apply to Jaxon and Cooper, however, and they came right over to say hello and make sure I remembered how to scratch their ears just right. Oh, how we've missed each other. Glenda and I quickly split off from the boys and visited the two grocery stores. I loaded up on fruits and veggies and was able to get this basket for just over $74. We decided to run our purchases back to our boats and get our treasures in the refrigerator. We were thrilled to have Cooper join us for the ride across the harbor. The look on Jaxon's face was priceless as he looked back on his brother from his dinghy. A short while later we all returned to town for lunch and another trip to the stores to pick up what we forgot.

We had a few hours back on our respective boats in the late afternoon. The usual activities followed - reading in the sun, exercises, and a shower. At 5:30 Barry and I packed up the items for dinner and headed to Paradigm Shift. At this point we were finally able to relax and hang out as normal while dinner cooked. Yesterday it had seemed like forever (Thanksgiving) since we'd been together. Today it felt like no time had passed at all. This kind of friendship is priceless and makes my heart very happy. To have our reunion on Valentine's Day was perfect timing. We had chicken pie imported from Winston-Salem, Uncle Bennett's garden-grown green beans, and rice for dinner. Glenda fixed both apple and chocolate turnovers for dessert. Our stomachs were definitely happy after that meal. Not nearly as happy, however, as our hearts.
