Thompson Bay
It was a beautiful morning on Thompson Bay, Long Island. I went out and gave Crossroads a bath before coming in to do my exercises. A quick shower followed and then we were off to join Glenda and Greg for brunch, hosted by Nancy and Blaine aboard Asanté.
It is a privilege once again to experience the camaraderie among Selene owners. Although Crossroads takes the role of little sister to the larger Paradigm Shift (left) and Asanté (right), we all find commonalities with layout, utilizations, customizations, and mechanics. Every boat is different, even among the same lengths, and it is fun to compare and get new ideas.
After our delicious meal and lively conversation, we came back to Crossroads and relaxed. Barry took a nap and I went to the flybridge to read. I was wanting to stretch my legs onshore, so around 4:00 we took the dinghy over to the dock. We disposed of some garbage and then walked around just to see what we could see. The first house had multiple colors of bougainvillea, hibiscus and desert rose. All of those flowers are so happy and immediately improve my mood. We located the grocery store and Seaside Car Rental where we booked a car with Olivia for tomorrow. We explore the island's entire length of 80 miles (4 miles at its widest) with Asanté. Olivia noted a nearby cave entrance and told us to walk over and check it out. Several cactii lined the path to the opening in the earth. We went as far as the assist rope and decided it was prudent to not go any further in flip flops. On our way back to the dock, we passed a hen with four chicks trailing behind her. They were very cute, but not very friendly.
We returned to Crossroads to catch the final moments of daylight. The sunset looked much like yesterday's, but we did get an elusive green flash tonight. (Sorry, there are no pictures because I was too busy watching.)
