Transitions

George Town

This was Day 1 of Winter Cruise Stage 2. Getting south, checked in, and connected was Stage 1. Now we transition to Stage 2 which is all about enjoying the weather, beauty, and people of The Bahamas. The day started without the many "gottas" we've become so accustomed to -- gotta get the anchor up, gotta get underway at first light, gotta time the tide and/or current, gotta take advantage of this weather window. Today was more about gratitude and a transition of perspective. I was able to stow our power cord, some fenders, and the majority of our docklines. (Lord willing, we won't need any of those items until we visit Spanish Wells Yacht Haven near the end of our stay.) I was able to put away all my winter clothes. I was able to pull out our snorkel gear in anticipation of hitting the water soon. I was able to sit out on Fiberglass Beach for hours reading and watching both boats and clouds move along.

Barry worked on a few maintenance items and got the watermaker started. He went under the helm to tweak some programming of our solar charge controller. It was a bit windy today which kicked up a chop in the harbor. Two kite surfers took advantage of the conditions and put on a show as they zipped through the anchorage. Before we knew it the sun was setting to the west as the waning, but still almost-full moon was rising in the east. We were able to do a load of laundry onboard as I prepared dinner. Tomorrow we will hop in the dinghy and go ashore where we will be able to hike the interior of the island and stroll along the beautiful beaches.
