Twelve Hours Later

Black Point to Big Majors  |  1.4 Hours  |  8.5 Miles

The party onshore in Black Point was still at high volume when I finally drifted off to sleep. The anchorage was a bit rolly and led to a few unplanned awakenings. During one of those moments in the darkness of the wee hours, I closed the port over my head. It actually got a little chilly. I woke up at dawn and moved to the pilot house to watch the sun rise before starting on morning chores -- mainly cleaning up from the mess we left after a late night. Under very choppy conditions we raised the dinghy and eventually wrestled it into position. The anchor was raised a short time later and we were on our way back to Staniel Cay to seek protection from the latest impending blow. We followed Paradigm Shift into the anchorage and found a place on Selene Row alongside Change of Pace and Southern Abode. We lowered the dinghy without additional drama. The afternoon quickly disappeared as we visited or were visited by the other Selene crews. Before we knew it, 12 hours later, the sun was setting on a very good day. Since we're in Staniel Cay, of course there is a mega yacht in the foreground.
