Seeing Things In A Different Light

George Town

A good night's sleep in a familiar spot does wonders. With a new perspective on the events of the past few days we lowered the dinghy and prepared to go ashore. There were several things to look forward to in town: a much-needed walk, disposing of trash, picking up some produce, and -- best of all -- meeting Glenda, Greg, Jaxon and Cooper for lunch. We had not expected to meet up with them again in The Bahamas, but our change of plans has allowed us to spend a few more hours together. At 11:30 we boarded the dinghy and traveled across Elizabeth Harbor. The church sitting high on the edge of Lake Victoria always catches my eye. Lunch at Choppy's was delicious and we were all members of The Clean Plate Club. Afterwards, Glenda and I were off to the markets. First stop was at Shop Rite for a few items. Then we caught the folks at the Farmers Market just before they packed up. We scored with more fresh arugula, local tomatoes, and bread. We then circled back to Exuma Market for the bulk of our purchases. All four boys waited in the shade for us to complete our mission.

Back to our respective motherships we went to unload our bags and then try to fit everything in the refrigerator. After conquering that task, I headed back outside to read and watch the scenery. Once again, Mother Nature provided the lesson for the day. You can look at a scene and be disappointed at the moment, but if you keep looking at it under a different light it may very well turn out to be something special. I am truly thankful for having the opportunity to make more memories with our dear friends. That is pure sunshine breaking through the clouds.
