Cloud Watching

Warderick Wells to Shroud Cay  |  3 Hours   18 Miles

We prepared for departure and waited for the familiar sound of Cherry (Voice of Exuma) to come over the radio at 9:00. Our turtle friend came over to see what we were up to then waved goodbye with his flippers. Soon, there she was, "Exuma Park extends from Wax Cay Cut in the north to Conch Cay Cut in the south ..." We confirmed that we were departing as planned then slipped our lines from the mooring pendant and were on our way. One large cloud cast interesting shadows over the turquoise water as we exited the narrow channel.

It was a short trip up to Shroud Cay. When we arrived, dark clouds were off to the west accompanied by sounds of thunder. Thinking rain was eminent, we left the dinghy up top and hung out onboard. The thunder continued throughout the afternoon as I read on Fiberglass Beach. It never did rain which was disappointing. Crossroads could sure use a good fresh-water bath. We'll stay here tomorrow and do the exploration we planned on doing today. My fingers are crossed that I can get a strong enough signal to follow tonight's UNC-Kansas championship game. Last night I was able to follow the play-by-play as Dawn Staley (GOAT) led her South Carolina Gamecocks to the women's championship. I went to UVA with Dawn, worked at UVA with Dawn, and have loved following her fantastic career. When I get back to strong internet, I can't wait to watch the highlights.
