Spanish Wells
It was a beautiful Sunday morning in Spanish Wells. Everyone on our dock came out by 8:30 to see Mindy and Steve (Adagio) off. Departure is eminent when the power cord is brought back on the boat. I got a workout and a shower in before streaming the Palm Sunday service from back home. I have never claimed to be a singer, but I joyfully joined in on "singing" both parts of Hosanna as only I can. There is great comfort drawn from family-centered holiday traditions and I'm thankful for the strong internet here that allowed me to watch. Speaking of family, that's what today was all about. Shelly picked us up and we went over to Shipyard for a delicious lunch. Afterwards, Barry took a picture of she and I at the restaurant's distinctive sign then joined in with us on a selfie.
Shelly then took us to see the progress on her new home just over the bridge on Russell Island. We are so excited for her. Her house has a great layout with wonderful porches for swings and hammocks. Her kitchen with large island will be perfect for her custom cake business. The view is incredible and she receives a wonderful breeze. There is just enough yard for flowers, plants, and (maybe later) a dog. She offered us a few of her bird peppers, but we politely declined. Those peppers are HOT, HOT, HOT. Back over the bridge and into Spanish Wells we went, stopping in to see Demetria and Bobo. Demetria was busy cooking for tomorrow's food sale. The lobster thermidor cooling on the table looked and smelled soooo good. I placed my order and will pick some up tomorrow morning before we depart. We're thrilled to be able to carry back a little home-cooking for Deidre as well.
Shelly took the fourth family photo of our Spanish Wells stay and then drove us back to Crossroads. We were happy to give her a look at our home on the water before saying goodbye. Barry did an oil change in the generator and checked the impeller on the main engine in preparation for tomorrow's departure. I went to Fiberglass Beach and finished another book. As the sun dropped, it became quite chilly. I pulled out the jeans and a sweatshirt to wear to dinner onsite at Wreckers. I was thankful that they still fit. After a few more days in Spanish Wells, they would definitely be a little snugger. The food has been wonderful at every place we've visited. Tonight's menu of sangria, margherita pizza, and a shared piece of coconut cloud cake was definitely a treat meal we haven't had in months. Seeing family that we haven't seen in 1-3 years has also been a treat. Thank you again to Katie, Jerold, Euleta, Shelly, Demetria, and Bobo for taking the time to visit with us. We are already looking forward to next time.
